BookAdsAI vs the Amazon Ads console
The Amazon Ads console is still where your campaigns live. BookAdsAI does not replace it. The console is where Amazon hosts the US profile, the campaigns, and the payment method that pays for clicks. BookAdsAI is autopilot on top of a profile you connect: a per-book Live or Paused switch, an allowlist, a daily spend cap, and bid steps that stay inside published limits after reports land. If you only want to edit ads by hand, you can stay in the console and never set a book Live.
What stays in the Amazon Ads console
Amazon remains the system of record for the advertising account. Campaigns, ad groups, product ads, keyword targets, and product targets are Amazon objects. Amazon decides when an ad is served and charges the payment method on that account. BookAdsAI does not hide those campaigns from you, and it does not become the place where Amazon sends the invoice.
You can keep using the console for anything BookAdsAI does not do. That includes creating the campaigns you want, reading Amazon’s own reports, changing budgets Amazon itself enforces, and working in marketplaces other than the United States. This version never selects a non-US profile. Work that sits only in those marketplaces stays in the console because BookAdsAI will not connect it.
Login with Amazon lets BookAdsAI read and, for a Live book, act on allowlisted campaigns through the Advertising API. The scope is advertising::campaign_management. The production return URL is https://bookadsai.com/api/auth/amazon/callback. That connection is not a transfer of the account to BookAdsAI. You can disconnect the workflow by leaving books Paused. Campaigns themselves remain in Amazon.
What Autopilot adds after you connect
The console does not know about BookAdsAI’s Live and Paused switches. Those are per book inside BookAdsAI, and they mean what they say. Paused means the daily job will not change that book. Live means the job may act, and only on that book. New books stay Paused through Connect, catalog refresh, author lookup, and pasted ASINs. You turn a book Live on purpose.
The allowlist is the list of Amazon campaign IDs Autopilot may touch. Sync can place IDs from that book’s product ads on the list, and you can edit the lines on the book page. An empty list is not permission to pick campaigns for you. The daily job skips the book and writes that skip to the change log. In the console you might still have dozens of campaigns. BookAdsAI will not edit the ones you left off the list.
The daily spend cap is the other control the console does not share with this app. New books start at $25. When today’s reported spend hits the cap, Autopilot pauses the eligible allowlisted campaigns and does not also change bids on that run. The bid rule is separate. A keyword or product target needs at least 5 reported clicks and some reported spend. The bid then moves by at most 10%, never above $2.50, and never below $0.20. Above 40% ACOS the bid steps down. Under 15% ACOS it steps up. Between those, including the endpoints, it stays. ACOS here is reported ad spend divided by reported ad-attributed sales, not royalties.
Every skip, cap pause, bid step, and refusal is written to the book’s change log, with the source of the run. The console remains available beside that log. The log is a record of what BookAdsAI did. It is not a second copy of every click Amazon served, and it is not a promise that a change helped.
Rules that keep Autopilot smaller than the console
Managing ads only in the console means you make each edit yourself, whenever you open it. BookAdsAI’s daily job is smaller than that. It will not launch Recovery campaigns. A name that matches Launch Recovery is refused even if you put the campaign ID on the allowlist. It will not make unbounded bid increases. It will not select AUTO_FOR_SALES targeting by default. It will not invent spend, sales, or royalties. It will not add product targets before an ENABLED product ad exists for the book ASIN.
It also will not invent search terms or harvest phrase and broad keywords at zero clicks. A target under 5 clicks is left unchanged, which includes a target that has never been clicked. Book-level totals without target rows do not move a bid. If today’s report is not stored, the daily job waits. Missing numbers stay zero on the dashboard. Profit shown there is royalties minus ad spend from reports that landed.
These limits are the product. BookAdsAI does not claim to be a full replacement for an ads manager, and it does not claim to beat other tools. Starter, Pro, and Agency do not remove the limits. A higher monthly amount does not raise the $2.50 bid ceiling, turn books Live for you, or fill in an empty allowlist.
A practical way to use the console and BookAdsAI together
Use the Amazon Ads console to see the account Amazon bills and to build or pause campaigns you understand. Use BookAdsAI when you want a once-a-day check, after reports land, that can pause allowlisted campaigns at a cap and nudge bids inside the 10% and $2.50 rules. Run now on the book page reviews the latest reported rows already stored if you do not want to wait for the daily job. It still will not invent rows that were never stored.
Before you set a book Live, read the allowlist. Confirm the IDs are campaigns for that book and that none of them are campaigns you wanted left alone. Set the daily cap to an amount you can accept on the Amazon invoice. Then turn Live on for that book only. If the next change log line is a skip, the usual reasons are that the book is Paused, the allowlist is empty, today’s report has not landed, or there are no target-level rows to rebid.
If you prefer to make every bid edit by hand, do not set the book Live. Paused is a complete choice, not a trial state the software overrides. You can still use the dashboard to read spend, royalties, and profit from reports that landed. Those figures stay descriptive. They do not push campaigns.
Billing, the change log, and how you stop
Public monthly prices are Starter $29, Pro $49, and Agency $99. The subscription is Stripe billing for the software. Manage billing / Cancel in Settings opens the Stripe customer portal so you can cancel yourself. Amazon click charges keep going to the Ads account until campaigns stop serving there. Pausing a campaign from the cap, or pausing it yourself in the console, is an ads action. Canceling Stripe is a software action. They are not the same button.
The change log is how you see Autopilot’s decisions without assuming the console was untouched by you. If you also edit a bid in the console, Amazon has that edit, and the next BookAdsAI run only knows the reported metrics and the bids it can read on that run. BookAdsAI does not lock the console. You are responsible for the combined result, and the product does not guarantee profit, sales, royalties, rankings, or page reads.
Does BookAdsAI replace the Amazon Ads console?
No. The console still holds the campaigns, the US profile, and the payment method Amazon charges. BookAdsAI can pause or rebid allowlisted campaigns for a Live book after reports land. It does not hide the console, and it does not pay for clicks.
What do the Autopilot rules help with?
They apply a daily spend cap (new books start at $25), keep bid moves to at most 10% and at most $2.50, refuse Launch Recovery and AUTO_FOR_SALES by default, and write each change to the book’s change log. They do not run at all while the book is Paused or the allowlist is empty.
Can I keep managing ads only in the console?
Yes. Leave every book Paused. BookAdsAI will not change those campaigns. You can still connect and review synced books. Live is optional, and it is per book.
Does a higher plan manage the console more aggressively?
Public monthly prices are Starter $29, Pro $49, and Agency $99. They are the same Autopilot. A higher plan does not raise the bid ceiling, ignore the allowlist, or turn books Live for you.
Use BookAdsAI
Create an account, then connect a US Amazon Ads profile from Settings. New books stay Paused until you set a daily spend cap, confirm the allowlist, and turn that book Live.
Profit = royalties − ad spend, from reports that landed. Cancel in Stripe yourself.
